The red EFI warning light is flashing on my 2002 Capo.
The bike seems to be running ok though ?
I have connected the 2 wires under the seat to enable
the diagnostic self-tester and the fault code was 36.
According to the workshop manual this fault code means there
is a fault with coil number 4.
Does anyone know which is coil number 4 ? is it one of the
rear ones under the seat or the front ones under the fuel tank?
Will it be expensive to replace this coil which I believe is called a
Sagem pencil coil?
All help gratefully recieved.

Hi Paul,
Welcome
The only suggestion I have is, that if you look at the maintenance manual in the diagram 6.5 Ignition/Injection System they show as H4 (no 12) the rear coil.(????)
As for the price I haven't changed mine or know anyone that has changed it, so ....
Have you asked your dealer?
Good luck

Thanks for the replies, since my first post I've managed to find out the price of a new coil.....£86.21 + vat - About a £100 or Euro 150 !!!
Phew...
Needless to say I'll checking them all for loose connections first
( some hope!) then trying to work out which is the faulty one by a process of elimination.
In the meantime I'll try to find out if the coil ( made by Sagem?) is available from any source other than Aprilia, it may be cheaper and perhaps available quicker.
Paul.

pay attention
if the engine works well it is not a problem of coil but a problem a the central-unit or a problem of the diagnostic system.
I suggest to invert the coil position, to clean the contact and to verify the number given by the diagnostic system.
My EFI shows the code 35, but the engine works very well. It is not a problem of coil but a problem of the diagnostic system.
